Health economics
Health system financing, disease burden, outcomes, cross-country diagnostics.
Summary
Four-engine health economics framework covering disease burden, health systems, financing, and outcomes. Built for multilateral institutions, health ministries, global health funders, and policy researchers needing replicable cross-country diagnostics or country-specific deep reads.
What we do
Health economics work moves between two registers: macro health-financing diagnostics across systems and country deep-reads on disease-specific burden, outcomes, and cost effectiveness. The Salus platform integrates 54 collectors across WHO (GHO, GHED, GHE, TB, malaria, NCD risk, UHC SCI, AMR, CHOICE, air quality, child nutrition, water and sanitation), World Bank HNP variants, OWID health series, IHME Global Burden of Disease, UNAIDS, Gavi, Global Fund, and UN World Population Prospects.
Engagements include health system financing memos for a country team, disease-specific cost-effectiveness diagnostics, cross-country diagnostic reports for thematic publications, and embedded research support for a health ministry or global health funder. The schema includes disease, age group, and sex dimensions for granular subgroup analysis.
Methods
- Health expenditure decomposition (public, private, OOP, insurance)
- Disability-adjusted life years (DALY) burden analysis
- Cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) and incremental CEA
- WHO-CHOICE methodology adaptation
- Equity decomposition (concentration index, Erreygers)
- Maternal and child health outcome modeling
- AMR and infectious disease burden analysis
- Cross-country panel diagnostics
Public data partners
- WHO GHO, GHED, GHE, TB, malaria
- WHO NCD risk, UHC service coverage index, AMR
- WHO CHOICE, air quality, child nutrition, WASH
- World Bank HNP statistics (20 variants)
- OWID health series
- IHME Global Burden of Disease
- UNAIDS, Gavi, Global Fund disbursements
- UN World Population Prospects
Deliverables
- Country health system financing memo
- Disease-specific burden and CEA diagnostic
- Cross-country panel diagnostic for a thematic report
- Health financing equity decomposition
- Embedded health economics research bench
Sample engagements
- Country health system financing diagnostic for a regional development bank.
- AMR disease-burden cost-effectiveness analysis for a global health funder.
- Cross-country UHC trajectory diagnostic for a flagship report.
- Maternal mortality decomposition for a national strategy review.
- Embedded health economics bench for a multilateral country team.
